ADVENTURE OPTIONS
OPTION 1 | HIKE CORONA + BOWTIE ARCH TRAIL
(2.4 mi out and back - MODERATE)
Hiking to Corona Arch should be near the top of the list for anyone visiting the Moab area.
Outside of Arches National Park, Corona and Bowtie Arch are some of the most accessible and prominent arches to be found. The trail begins near the Gold Bar camping area along Potash Road, nestled tightly to the banks of the Colorado River.
Leaving the trailhead you will cross the railroad tracks and steadily make your way up on top of the slickrock benches that make up Bootlegger Canyon. There is a small section of the trail that includes safety cables as it is quite exposed, but most people will be able to pass this section without trouble. Give yourself some time to take pictures and enjoy the immaculate desert landscape and incredible formations.
OPTION 2 | Looking Glass Arch Rock Climbing
Just a short hike away from ULUM sits Looking Glass Arch, offering 3 pitches and 360° views of the La Sal Mountains and Canyonlands National Park.
Looking Glass Rock sits proudly in the desert and features one of the most spectacular arches around. This dome presents a great opportunity for new climbers to learn the ins and outs of multi-pitch climbing while reaching a beautiful summit and tackling a huge rappel at the end of the climb.
Learn about multi-pitch rope systems, belaying, gear cleaning and climbing technique. This route consists of three pitches and 400 feet of climbing to arrive at the top of Looking Glass Arch. Take in the views of the vast open desert and nearby mountain ranges. Then descend via an airy rappel through a small arch and into a massive wind-carved alcove.
This climb is great for all abilities and an excellent way to spend a half day in the Moab area!
Slot Canyoneering
Zion is the hot spot for some of the best slot canyon adventures in the entire world.
Canyoneering is the art or activity of exploring a canyon and includes hiking and scrambling and rappelling. Zion canyoneering is one of the most exhilarating experiences of any Zion National Park Activities.
This is an opportunity to navigate the beautiful scenery and red rock terrain of Zion National Park in a whole new way.
E-Bike the Park
Experience all the beauty and wonder of Zion Canyon with the ability to cruise the entire scenic route on an efficient pedal assist eBikes. This incredible option allows you experience Zion on your own schedule (without an environmental impact)
Stop along the way and hike, explore the river and epic lookout points.
We recommend checking out:
Emeralds Pools Hike: a striking desert oasis directly across from the Historic Zion Lodge. This trail follows a small, verdant stream that collects in a series of "pools."
Temple of Sinawava: a massive amphitheater that unofficially marks the beginning of the canyon.
River Float Back to AutoCamp
After an adventure packed day in the park you will have the option to cool off and take the river back to AutoCamp!
One of the top adventure spots in Zion National Park is the Virgin River, which is actually the life-force of the desert oasis around it. Feeding into Lake Mead, it is one of the strongest carvers of the canyon. While it provides the important task of keeping the local environment alive, it is also a destination for summertime fun. Floating down the river is a great way to relax and admire the beautiful natural surroundings of the park.
Water shoes are required, don’t forget your swimsuit!
